Winter 2024 Newsletter
“Weather is not an obstacle”.
How amazing have these autumn days been and
soon winter will be upon us and the search for an
extra layer, arm warmers, knee / leg warmers, a
heavier jacket, ear warmers ….
Yes, the official winter season is on our doorstep.
To assist with your winter cycling the committee
has agreed to have a HUGE SALE and discount all
our cycling kit. This is a great opportunity to
obtain Tasman Wheelers items at very low prices
– keep an eye on the website under "buy Club kit" for
all updated prices.
Racing
The winter programme has been completed, and
we are very excited to offer an amazing race
cycling programme that includes a “Winter series”
with prize money, and no doubt other spot prizes.
The programme/race Calendar is on the homepage
Certainly, we have listened to rider feedback, and
hopefully everyone will participate and encourage
others to join the fun.
With the calendar is also the latest roster for
members and maybe a few non-members for race
management duties. Please check to see when
you are helping – thanks.
This is also an optimum time to congratulate the 7
members who attended the Age Group
Championships in Timaru in April.
Every single person equipped themselves
admirably and performed strongly. Thanks to Ray
Hewlett who was our team manager, and
congrats to Symon Mitchell, Hans Bauer, and Ray
for their medals. Cameron Beaumont also
performed admirably finishing 5 th .
There have also been some other outstanding
cycling results by many members, led by Cameron
in Australia, Le Race, and second at Around
Brunner.
Congrats to everyone else who compete at
Around Brunner.
We also continue to see amazing results from Finn
and Niamh Fisher-Black , George Bennett, and it was
also great following our trio riding and racing in
Canada – Finn Mitchell, Cameron Jones and Seamus
O’Donnell – some great footage and stories of
their stage race on their fb pages.
Committee news; -
AGM is coming up soon, date to be advised.
Safe riding – remember lights, remember our
